“NOSSO POVO NUNCA VAI SE ENTREGAR”: UM ESTUDO DAS ESCOLHAS DE TRANSITIVIDADE NA REPRESENTAÇÃO DO NEGRO EM LETRAS DE RAP DO MÚSICO THIAGO ELNIÑO

Thiago Elniño is rapper, art educator and pedagogue. In his lyrics, the musician seeks to demonstrate the reality lived in the past by the African peoples who were brought to Brazil and how black people still suffer the harsh consequences of this history. Thus, the objective of this research is to identify and discuss the representation of the Negro in Thiago Elniño's rap lyrics with the help Systemic-Functional Grammar, and more specifically, the Transitivity System. To achieve this goal, we also present the history of Hip Hop, and show the origin of the 4 elements present in the culture (Djing, breaking, graffiti, and rap). The study also discusses the formation context and experience of the rapper Thiago Elniño. In addition, the study presents some historical aspects related to the history of black people in Brazil and the Negro movement as an important means of resistance, which always sought to denounce the various forms of racism and and how to fight it. We show that education has always been an issue for blacks, who as a result achieved some positive outcomes such as the Law 10.639/03 and the quota system in public universities. Our research follows a qualitative-interpretative orientation. As a theoretical basis, it draws upon Halliday and Matthiessen's Transitivity System (2004, 2014). Our corpus consists of two songs by Thiago Elniño. The analysis focuses on how black and white people are represented in clauses that present material, mental, relational and verbal processes. The results of the analysis show that black people are mainly represented as Goals in situations of violence committed by white man as represented Actors. In addition, the lyrics also show black people as a resistant humans beings who seek through their traditions to create a form of resistance. Due to its political and critical content, this work presents rap songs as a pedagogical possibility for use in educational contexts.Thiago Elniño é rapper, arte-educador e pedagogo. Em suas letras, o músico busca demonstrar a realidade vivida no passado pelos povos africanos que foram trazidos para o Brasil e as duras consequências que os negros da atualidade enfrentam devido a essa história. Dessa forma, o objetivo geral dessa pesquisa é identificar e discutir a representação do negro nas letras de rap de Thiago Elniño. Para isso, nos valemos da Gramática Sistêmico-Funcional (GSF) de Halliday e Matthiessen (2004, 2014), mais especificamente, do sistema de transitividade. Para chegarmos a tal objetivo, primeiramente, apresentamos a história do Hip Hop, mostrando a origem dos 4 elementos presentes na cultura (Djing, breaking, grafite e o rap), dando ênfase ao elemento do rap, este por ser parte do nosso objeto de pesquisa. Em seguida, apresentamos o contexto de formação e vivência do rapper Thiago Elniño para, então, elencarmos alguns aspectos históricos do processo de formação do povo negro no Brasil, apontando o Movimento Negro como importante meio de resistência, que sempre buscou denunciar as formas de racismo e lutar por uma igualdade. Além disso, mostramos que a educação sempre foi pauta para os negros, que, como resultado, conseguiram alguns passos como a Lei 10.639/03 e o sistema de cotas nas universidades públicas. Em uma pesquisa com viés qualitativo-interpretativista, refletimos, por meio do sistema de transitividade, como os negros e os brancos são representados em excertos que apresentam processos: materiais, mentais, relacionais, e verbais em duas músicas do músico Thiago Elniño. Com resultado das análises, concluímos que em sua maioria, as letras escolhidas relatam e apresentam os negros em situações de violência, representados como Meta, cometidas pelo homem branco, representados como Ator. Além da violência, as letras também apresentam os negros como seres resistentes, que buscam por meio de suas tradições, criar uma forma de resistir. Devido ao seu teor poético e crítico, este trabalho apresenta o rap como possibilidade pedagógica para ser utilizado em espaços educacionais
